More than ever, consumers are demanding a mobile optimized website that loads quickly and provides pertinent information such as store locations, local store phone numbers and product information. Those retailers that fail to provide mobile optimized sites risk losing valuable traffic and sales to the competition.
In an effort to understand how multichannel retailers have adapted to these changing consumer shopping patterns, The Search Agency evaluated the mobile sites of 100 of the largest multichannel retailers. The Search Agency's team of mobile experts used its proprietary mobile experience scorecard to determine which multichannel retailers were most closely aligned with established mobile marketing best practices. The analysis was based on both quantitative and qualitative factors.
Here are some of the key findings from the report:
- Of the 100 sites, only one used Responsive Web Design, Google's recommended configuration for mobile
- The average score for all companies in the study was 3.17 out of 5
- Even though Google recommends that mobile sites load in 1 second or less, only 16 of the 100 sites met this standard
